what is ASP ?

 ASP (Active Server Pages) is a server-side scripting language that was developed by Microsoft in the late 1990s. It is used to create dynamic web pages and web applications that can interact with databases and other server-side technologies. ASP is based on the .NET framework and can be written in a variety of programming languages, including C# and Visual Basic.


Some of the key features of ASP include:

1. Server-side scripting: ASP code is executed on the server before being sent to the client's browser, which allows for dynamic content generation. 2. Database connectivity: ASP provides built-in support for connecting to databases such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle. 3. Component-based architecture: ASP uses a component-based architecture that allows developers to create reusable code modules. 4. Integration with other Microsoft technologies: ASP integrates with other Microsoft technologies such as IIS (Internet Information Services) and Visual Studio.
ASP has been largely replaced by newer technologies such as ASP.NET, which provides improved performance, security, and scalability. However, there are still many legacy applications that use ASP, and it remains a useful technology for certain types of web development projects.
